I dont know much, but thought I heard somewhere ( stovebolt probably!) that the intakes arent inter changeable between motors. Is this correct? How do I tell the difference?

It's the big four piece, three carb one - right? If so, that one will bolt up and work on a 216, 235 and 261. That intake will not, however, mate up to your stock exhaust manifold and basically has no provisions for heat either by exhaust or by water. What kind of vehicle are planning to put the intake on? Tom Langdon runs this kind of McGurk on his 39 Chevrolet Coupe and has adapted a water line to his to preheat the fuel before it enters the engine with a pipe that he welded across the bottom (front to back) which he runs heated water through form the engine to pre heat the fuel. Of course, you don't have to do that. You can run it without the heat, but you will still have to figure on either headers or do something with your stock intake to be able to use it with the intake. They are good looking intakes and do draw the attention! Joe

I was going to run this setup on my 56 3100. Its probably a little overkill for the motor, but I wanted it for the 'cool' factor. I love vintage speed equipment, be it old Chevy's or VW's. I guess I just long to live in those days!

It would work if you did it that way. Tom could fix that up for you. It would be an attention getter on your truck. Be sure the rear carb doesn't interfere with anything. The intake and the rear carb get real close to the firewall and possibly the shifting linkage. The carb may clear the firewall, but an air cleaner might not fit on the carb without hitting the firewall. Joe
