Congrats on Assistant Chief, though I understand what you're saying about not pullin' hose any longer.
Personally, in my (VERY) Humble opinion, the fire engines of today treat the fire fighters like a bunch of wussies. These "ergonomic hose beds", remote operated deluge guns, "Penthouse view" cabs, automatic everything, etc. etc. make the trucks larger, heavier, more expensive, and less reliable than they should be.
This, of course, from someone who has never been on the job, and has an affinity for antique trucks. Go figure! ;-)
