I have a 1951 Olds 88 radio. It looks like with some modifications it could be made to fit. The tuning gear would have to move out 1/4" with some shims and the pointer changed. The volume and tone stack will also have to move. The main thing that I need to do is to reconfigure the front. Then I can put a reproduction knob, button and dial set on. It looks like it could be done but I need these measurements. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2735323450103315458xioMEK

If anyone has an AD radio that is out of the truck I would be very grateful for the information. Just list the values top to bottom from the drawing and I will figure it out.

neilroy,
here are the measurements for the "straight back" version of the AD radio.
The depth at the top is 6 1/2", the vertical face for the controls 2 1/2" and the slanted area over the speaker 6 1/2". In addition the back cover is 9" high and the bottom is 4 3/4" deep. Probably the big challenge will be making sure the rear of the radio does not interfere with the wipers, etc.

You will find that the tuning shaft has a flexible drive and of course the volume control is merely wired so they can be moved.

Thanks for the information. It looks like the overall measurements are the same. The only difference looks to be the bend on the front. I will post some pictures.

neilroy,
here are some things that you might want to consider. The original straight back AD radio has the control face which is parallel to the back cover. Therefore the radio slants backwards when installed to give the correct angle on the controls. That also means that the top of the back slants down, out of the way of the wipers. In addition, the base is only 4 3/4" in depth. However, I don't know if the base depth would be a problem
