I've got a 49 gmc 1/2 and I want go w/something close to original.....but the original cover is missing. All i've got to start w/is just the bare springs/frames, nothing there to make a pattern from. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | Here is one pic. I googled <1949 gmc interior> then looked at the <images> link on the google page. I think this pic would be representative of the stock interior. Just plain vinyl slab seat with a single bead/seam around the curve. The back would be the same. They weren't fancy with pleats & buttons.

Establish the height of the foam and shape of the back, top, sides and the part that keeps the buns cozy. I would use a cardboard template for that. Measure from the furthest point to the furthest point with your template sayyyyy duct taped in place to keep it standing or whatever while you measure following that shape tightly. Measure it and add a foot for good luck so you can rough fit the material over the foam etc, and work with it. The shape of the templates will be the shape of the foam you will carve out evenly and consistantly to that height, width etc. Hope that helps, the foam part is easy,...you,ll need machones to sew that to slip over the cushioning. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 24 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 24 | Thanks for the input...sounds like a pre-made deal is the way to go! | | |
