My 51 chevy 1/2 ton currently has a light housing that holds the stop/tail lights and a second housing that contains the turn lights. I bought a tail light housing through classic parts and I want replace the small single filament bulbs with a dual filament (stop & tail) and a single filament (turn signal). My question is where do I buy the socket for the single and dual filament lights? I converted my front park lights to park & turn signals...do I use the same size socket in the back? How about the socket for the single filament bulb? Where do I get one of those? I've already purchased the brackets to use the "larger, safer 21 candlepower bulbs" so I'm hoping to just plug the sockets into that bracket. I know what I want and need, I just don't know where to get it. Thanks

Get a parts store to show you their ign. system illustraded parts catalog. It has photo's & discription of various sockets & pigtails. They can order them for you when you pick it out. I use Carquest. Are you in the K.C. area?

Scroll about half way down to part # C7002X. They work on 6v or 12v.

you can convert to LED's now.
try a local trailer supply or some of the bolt vendors should have something.

If you have a separate bulb for turn signals inside the brake light housing it will be difficult to see the turn bulb flashing when the brake light is on. It would be better to purchase a turn signal switch that uses the brake lights. And probably simpler to do than trying to cob another socket in your housing.

I don't beg to differ but
you can buy as i have shown a dual filament socket to use as a brake/tail or blinker tail or what ever combo you wish. tou can also just buy an LED set-up w/ all # on one unit and they work very well.
you should ALWAYS wire a dual filament incandesent bulb so the commonly used feature/light, in this case the tail light is on the lesser brightness filament. this way when you DO turn on a blinker or brake?? depending on how you choose to wire it, the second brighter filament shows blinking or STOP brighter & better.
That IS what you want isn't it.
I wired my dual filament front parking lamps this way and they work a treat.
I have a triple LED set up inside my original rear housing and every one of them works just fine.

yes but they may be slightly dimmer
SO GO BUY ONE 12v {what $2-4bucks} and hook it up to your battery then you decide. they really don't care about voltage as they draw very little voltage. some one some time ago asked this question.
