I've got my small block 266 sitting on my engine mounts and ready to get them welded? I am going to put in an electric fan on the stock rad, so I want to know the clearances from the faceplate of the water pump to the rad, and the back of the block to the firewall? Thanks.

OTOH you could try having the cab, rad and driveline set in place, and it should be pretty simple to see if it all fits!

I would think at least 2 to 4 inches. You'll need to have the cab, front end, and radiator support on. What about the steering? What exhaust manifolds are you using? The steering parts are usually the most expensive part of a V8 swap on an AD if you buy new parts. | | |

My truck is a 49 GMC 1/2 ton. And it's a 262 small block. The tranny, is from a 77 GMC 1/2 ton as well is the rear end.

Sometimes the engine can be moved toward the passenger side for exhaust clearance. This will have no effect on the driveline if the engine remains parallel to the centerline.

Yes I will have to see if the steering column from my 77 GMC will fit. If not then an Ididit will do. Then get some Borgenson parts, and mount the steering box from my 77 to the frame. One thing at a time though. Pocket book says how far I can go at a time.
