I believe that he can do this modification. I believe that his first name is Jason but I may be wrong. Can anyone help me out here? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,523 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,523 | TRNIX,His name is Justin Rubsam. Thats his forum name also. From Minden,Nev. I believe that Justin Rusban does the modification that Yelostn78 was asking about. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 502 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 502 | Thanks for the info. I actually just put the new tubes and vibrator in and the radio works well. I am getting a fluctuating tone in the background- but I can tune all the standard am stations around here and here it very well. Any thoughts? I wil also look up Justin. Thanks for all the help. If you are using a trickle charger, they are very handy but they can create some interfering noise. However, with old capacitors, the possibilities of problems are endless. It would probably benefit from receiving all new capacitors. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 502 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 502 | I agree on the capaciors, I am going to try putting a ^V coil in between the trickle charger and the fuse on the power line. See if that helps at all for now. I am waiting to hear from justin on the input thing before I put it in the truck. If he does it, I will probably just have him check out everything and then send it back. Thanks for all the help. It is also a direct replacement for the 6X5, witch did have the six volt "A" and is not needed, 6X5 is found in some car radios and house radios of the late 1930's and in to the 40's. Last year I restored a 1940 Zenith console radio, I replaced the 6X5 with one of my 0Z4 replacement , I build these using the original tube can so it looks 100% original , by the way I have several good 0Z4 inners, you could rebuild your own 0Z4 or make some kind of project ,they glow purple with AC on them , for the inners I don't use I'd sell them 5 for $1 | | |
