I am new here and am glad I found a place to chat with people about my old truck. Does anyone know the correct carb for a 292? It is in a 1966 C-60 army flatbed. It is stock except the distributor is HEI. It has a Rochester 1 barrel and it has 4 different settings. The truck overheats bad and the whole cooling system has been replaced. The 66 292 came with a roch. model B. The 292 carb. has a larger bore than the other models although they have usually been replaced with the smaller one. Although lean mixtures & incorrect ign. timing can cause overheating I doubt that is your problem. Make shure the radiator passages are clear & the radiator is large enough for the engine. Try another thermostat. I often find bad ones right out of the box. Blows your mind away trying to figure out what is wrong.
