The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 1966 auto trans crossmember

Among the parts I must locate for a trans swap in my 65 suburban (4 on floor to th400 automatic on column) is the trans crossmember. I've been told I need to change it out to an automatic style, but is a PG trans crossmember the same as a TH400 one? As you all probably know, early th400 stuff is not so easy to find.

I am undergoing a similar swap on my '64 Stepside. We have a '66 donor truck with the power glide, but I will be using the 700R4 in our '64. I was under the assumption that they would be the same. They were not.
I am not sure about a Suburban, but you can buy one for a C-10 or C-20 in that year allready built for as little as $79.95 + S&H . As for me, I am building my own super hevy duty version!
I would tend to think the Suburban and pickup would have the same frame. But I am not shure on that.

I could sure use the shift linkage (part from the frame to the trans) or a picture of it so I could maybe fab one myself. I have 305-v6 with powerglide '66 GMC. I made one myself but it will only go into drive not 1 or 2.
