In '54 the splash pan design was changed. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | When you say "apron" I assume you mean the ones between the box sides and running boards? 1/2 ton ones are all the same but they get longer with larger trucks.

If he's referring to the apron between the box sides and running boards as stated by Curt B. ,the '54 are shorter in height also because the '54 bed sides extend down closer to the running boards. | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 87 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 87 | Curt B. you are correct the apron running behind the cab along side the box and connecting to the fender | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | I had forgotten that the box sides were different for 1954 which would make the aprons unique for that year as well as 1955 first series trucks. All 1/2 ton ones will be the same from 47-53. I assumed the front one was a "splash pan" and the side ones were "splash aprons."

However, a long box 1/2 ton was available during New Design GMC years.

I know the after market parts are made in china or somewhere but which company would you guys go too? LMC or Classic parts? LMC is 49.95 each and Classic is 34.95 is there a big difference in quality of parts from one to the other? | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 339 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 339 | I don't doubt that they all come from the same place, I found that several are made in Taiwan...I have bought from both places...Bill B. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 | They are all made in Taiwan .All the suppliers get this stuff from the same distributor. Good Luck!?! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 | If you got a long box AD, GMC 1//2 ton, the 3/4 ton "splash aprons" should be the same. The box length on the 3/4 ton and long box 1/2 ton are both 8' right? | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | I was sure all aprons above 1/2 ton are longer and I think Tim confirmed that. After Santa comes hold them up to each other and make sure they're a mirror image of each other as these day's anything is possible. It took me a while to figure out I was shipped 2 left hand fender brace rods. What about buying a bigger order to save on shipping and go with the vendor with the best overall price?
