The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay 64 C-10 wire harness

Just looking for what you guys think. I tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for. And I only have 30 minutes on the internet (Im in Iraq). Well here it goes, when I get back I will be replacing the wire harness in my 64 short wide. I dont think this will be very difficult but what do you guys think? Is this a weekend project? Is it as easy as Im thinking. Ive done harnesses before but on military vehicles. My 64 seems pretty simple, but then again Im not there looking at it. I will be getting a truck specific harness rather than a universal. Thanks in advance.

I rewired ( without a kit) quite a few parts of the the wiring on my 66. There's probably more wires inside the drivers door on my Jeep Liberty than there is on the entire 66 truck.

I don't see why rewiring a complete truck ( with a quality -truck specific kit) would take anyone longer that a long day or two.

If you need to keep driving the truck you can break it down into parts- underhood, then tail lites, then in-cab. Good aftermarket kits should plug into factory harness connectors.

if you use a factory type harness you should be able to get it in a day and i must also thank you for what you are doing over in iraq stay safe and alert

With a factory under-dash replacement wiring harness/fuse block, you can do the entire "in-cab" swap in less than 2 hours. I have replaced several of them on my 4-5-6 Chevy trucks with relative ease.

ohWoW When buying the rewire kits There are several good companys who make replacements for your truck but there also good companies who make complete aftermarket kits that can add wire for air conditioning etc. so consider what route you are going to take before ordering.
