I am putting a 292 in my 3/4 ton 1953 Chevy truck. Motor is built and mounted in the frame. I have been looking for a set of PS brackets for this motor. As you probably know, they are hard to come by. I have found a motor that was removed from an UPS truck, see attached pictures. The PS pump is different than ones I have seen on other 292's. It is a remote reservoir type and is mounted very low on driver's side. Above it is the alternator, then above that is something else. What is that something else? Is it a smog pump? I see no reason why I could not use this set-up in my truck. The top brackets could maybe be used to mount my AC compressor, although I was planning on mounting it on the passenger side. Anyone see any problems I need to watch out for ?

Here are some pics:

That is the Eaton pump. It is used on the heavier trucks. No reason not to use it. It looks like a good setup with the dual belts. The other is a smog pump.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Thanks for the ID Wrenchbender.

Will that pump work OK with the PS box from a 78 1/2 ton Chevy truck ? I robbed the front suspension, brakes, and steering from a 78 and have it mounted under the 53 frame. The reason I ask is that I have heard stories of mxing and matching PS pumps and mostly rack and pinions where the pressure is too high and blows out the seals.

Another option is a 250 PS pump. I used one on a 292 years ago. It will require a small amount of modifing to work, but it was not much. From the looks of the pictures of the UPS setup, it would not fit in an AD anyway. That crank pully is sure deep.

I actually have a PS pump and brackets from a 250 that Tntrucknut gave to me when he came down to look at the modified front suspension. Stovebolters are the greatest folks on earth. You are right, it would take some modification, but can be made to work.
