Does anyone know if there is a difference in the style of ashtray from a custom cab or a regular cab of a 1964?
Also, I have seen ashtrays labeled as for a AC truck or non-AC truck.
What is the difference?
Thanks, Mike

The factory dash (above the radio) ash tray in the '60-'63 are the same and the '64-'66 are the same. The A/C trucks had an under-dash mounted ash tray, because the factory location is lost on factory A/C truck, due to the A/C dash vents. There are some so-called factory A/C units, that do not have dash-mounted A/C diffuser (above radio in factory ash tray location), because the diffuser unit is located below the dash.

In any case, if you have a factory underdash ash tray, you have a rare bird. I have a few and in my travels have found very few of them that are truly factory/OEM/NOS units.

There is no difference in the ash trays on a Standard cab or Custom Comfort cab...the factory/dealer A/C equipped trucks is the determining factor.

Do the A/C truck ash trays and the non-A/C truck ash trays look the same? The dash-mounted and underdash-mounted ash trays are noticeably different and are not interchangeable.

Thanks, I`m getting an ashtray from a fellow in Colorado.
I have a big hole in my dash where the ashtray goes, so I guess it had no AC from the factory.
I am planning on eventually putting in an aftermarket AC so I guess I will see if I need to change anything then.
