They did but only made it as far as Detroit! My 'old man' opted to stay in Jockland,despite a job offer from F*rd in Dearborn. (He stayed true to his roots as a G.M. man!)

I got my 67 backed in the barn so I can start to work on the transmission(lost all forward movement) and the brakes. Hopefully I can come up with a title and get the old truck on the road soon!

pulled front drums off of the 35 getting ready for the disc brake upgrade.

Here she is. I am shooting for something that I can drive to work not a show truck. It will be used to haul whatever I need to haul.
Once I get finished with the welded repair pieces I am going to strip it all lead the joints and epoxy prime. I got twenty cans each of duplicolor primer sealer and a blue in rattle cans at a local salvage store. 50 cents a can. So as I go I am priming and painting just to keep the rain off and make my wife think something is getting done. Page 5 or so is what I did today.

Whew, I worked on several things already in progress and complete some of them. I have disasembled both front doors for my panel. Cleaned the regulators and painted them a nice hammertone silver to protect them, got the vent window out and drilled out the rivets in the vertical strips and ready to proceed with the rest. All the front door hinges, & rear, are blasted, primed and drilled out for the new hinge pins. Got most of the mechanisms blasted and painted that go to the rear doors for the panel. All the latches have been cleaned and lubed and ready. Took the inside guides out that hold the trailing edge of the door window blasted/primed and painted.
Even changed the oil/filter in Victoria's car and also found and fixed a long standing problem of finding the vacumn leak that controls where the air blows out...feet/face/windshield.

Its amazing what a few days off and full days in the shop can do. Heck, today I even finished up one quilt rack and another piece for my daughters for Christmas.
I can hardly wait till morning to get some more done!!

Oh, and I even got the shop cleaned up a little bit.

didn't get anything done to my truck but cut and split to truck loads of wood so my truck will be warm this winter

I got an amazing amount done today. My brother and his family are visiting for Thanksgiving and today we played in the shop.

Started out by removing the old 5.14 geared Eaton from under my 1-ton and replaced it with the 3.42 geared GM 14-bolt that was waiting to go under it.

Then we stopped and ate some leftover turkey.

This afternoon we removed the front fenders and radiator mount leaving the frame and suspension and cab and nothing else. With that done, we did a trial fit of the Cadillac 500 and Turbo 400 I'm installing in this '54 GMC 1-ton.

Do you have a wood burning heater in there???????????

I got the running boards sanded and ready for primer. slow going. Working on the dash next.

well was going to put the strips in the bed that holds the wood in but the finish wasnt dry on the wood yet so i just looked at it and came back home

Well, let's see. On Thursday night, I took off the generator and took it apart/cleaned/freed rusty brush holders. On Friday I reinstalled the generator and prayed that it would work... It did!!! After that, I don't remember anything except for being happy until I went to sleep. This morning, I got on here, asked questions, researched, asked more questions, researched some more, and then finally measured and figured out what I need for brake lines. That lasted until about one hour ago and when I got done researching I got bored and went out to remove the wheel cylinder hoses. I think I'm finally ready for brake lines and hoses!!!

Well I'm tinkerin with a stereo system at the moment for the Ol Gal, an drainin the fuel cell so I can get on the bed wood, Sethy has already claimed the drained fuel for his 4 wheeler LOL!

wife had to work fri. and i'm off til tues.so fri went to a couple junk yards and scored a sbc valve cover with just a pvc hole i'm lookin for. gonna run a pair of those painted and pinstriped. also came home and took all the parts to the engine builder .so i guess i'm commited or should be commited..............dave

I cleaned and painted the replacement oil pan for my 292. Finally found one on Ebay to replace the original that had a rod thrown through it at one time in its glorious past. The PO had done a very poor job patching the ragged 6" hole the rod left, but I probably could not have done much better. This finishes up my motor, now back to the dreaded body work....anybody out there want to trade some body skills for some chassis/engine work ?

Hey BC 3600, am in Brockport NY having thanksgiving with my family,so was not able to work in the garage.I took the starter out of my chevelle to be rebuilt as i am tryin to get it running so i can move it out of my garage to bring the 48 home. Am lookin forward to getting it home as i am wondering how big a mistake i made.LOL Anyway, hope you had a nice thanksgiving with the family.

Had big plans for the '47 over the Holidays but as some know I lost access to a shop and so I've been trying to work outside. I got my annual cold last week and then it turned too cold outside to work. I have been trying to finish the frame/suspensiou/brakes before winter set in but it looks like I won't make it. I did buy a complete running 350 2 weeks ago and have the engine/transmission setting in place in the frame. Some progress is better than none I guess.

I haven't gotten much done.... But I have managed over the last month to get the walls about 60% cut off of the old delivery box that's sitting on the truck now..... Gotta get that off before I can move it into the shop.....

got a low pressure 7# radiator cap & plumbing bits for a recovery systems and the ABS threaded and cap ends to make up my recovery reservoir tank. also got the rear white letters on. the cab dash letters are tomorrow and finish the tank mount, and heater install.

ANY BODY have hints on glueing the double foil jute inside the engine hood.

I was at my mechanic's today and one of his guys was scraping the insulation off the back of a BMW hood. He was really working hard to get it off. I thought then of how much trouble I have had in the past getting the D$#%@$ stuff to stick and stay. I'm sure there are adhesives somewhere that will hold the stuff up there.
You might try 3M-90 spray on.

I got the garage cleaned out to locate the new compressor where I wanted it.

I spent the weekend/past few days pulling parts/fasteners for a fellow I met through a Chevy truck specific website. He is a Corvette restoration guru and has done some very impressive builds, including a champion at a recent Corvette Nationals. In any case, he tackled a '65 Chevy C10 swb fleetside truck and contacted me for some "hard-to-find" dealer/factory options for the 4-5-6 Chevy trucks. In short, I visited his shop a few weeks ago to see his '65 project truck.

To my amazement, he requested that I critique his truck, to ensure it was true to form and period-correct. During the past several years I have owned/collected/restored several 4-5-6 Chevy trucks and accumulated a vast amount of parts, both OEM and NOS. In the process, I have also gathered a substantial amount of historical reference information, dealer literature and manufacturer's data/manuals.

In a nut shell, I spent several hours at his shop, gingerly critiquing his '65, in order to "make-ready" for the '09 show season. In my travels and experience, I have never laid eyes on a more perfect example of a factory-correct/period-correct 1965 Chevy truck. It is extremely well optioned from the factory/dealer and will truly be a fine rolling example of classic 1965 vintage Chevy iron.

I am both humbled and honored to be involved in the process and truly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a true restoration artisian, although on Corvettes. That is all I was able to accomplish over the holidays...I must say priceless!!!

Oh yeah!

Today, I put Christmas lights, garland and a wreath on the firtruck today in preparation for the Virginia Beach Christmas parade on Saturday!!! Lots of families with kids riding with me on that night. I look forward to it even more now that the firetruck is about done.

It is a lot of work just for an hour parade... But fun no matter what it takes to just be around the old stovebolt.

I managed to beat the bejeebers out of an aftermarket inner cowl panel and get in to place. I had to split it to get it into place, then welded it back together. I hope to get it welded into place and sealed up weekend. I had to use two differenr thicknesses of sheetmetal to get the job done. DonG, thanks about telling me about heat fence. It works like a charm.

virginafiretruck, it is appropriate to have a firtruck at Christmas.

Unpacked my new drivers side rocker panel, lower left rear door jam, drivers side floor and left kick panel. I still have some demolition to do on the lower cowl and floor etc. to do before the install. I picked up some round bar to make a hand crank. Thanks to Denny I now have enough information to build one. Then I can give the engine a turn or two when I pass it to keep it moving during the rebuild.

Finished up the wiring by hiding wires within split loom and started mocking up the front sheetmetal

I got mine to start......in near zero degrees.... it's a 1950 6400 2 ton farm truck. 6 volt with the 216 engine. I moved it around a bit, like to start her weekly at least.

I have the interior done in like-original looks, needs cab outside paint, and the 12 foot box painted. What a great truck, like the ones we had farming with.
I should get pics to show off of it I guess ......

I keep buying stuff and maybe one day I'll get to put it all together!...oh, going to check the body work progress tomorrow. The blood letting is really getting into high gear! ugh, ouch, gosh, ouch...and more to come!

i'm putting mine back together now & almost done.
Installed combo clearance /turn signals on the running boards, third stop lamp. added rear steps at tailgate. heaters back in. trying to set the darn hood so i can get on w/ the front fenders, grill & H/L's

Got all the gauges, and final wiring done. Finally got the clutch linkage in, which became a reeaaall pain. Put the gas tank back in. Topped off the fluids, and got to start it up! It sounds really good. Not quite the "lope" I was expecting for 430hp, but it sounds great. Maybe have a little fine tuning to do, but the engine lives! Now all I need to do is install overflow tank and tubing, put the transmission support arm back on, fill the trans, and put the grill and headlights back on. After that it's ready for insurance and the road!

All that work in one day, you must be single! Good looking power plant you have there. Are those chrome heads?
