I can't say that I recall seeing any that have been painted. I thought since I have mine off to rebuild it, that I might go ahead and paint it. The body seems to be an aluminum casting with an iron casted base adapter.

While you have it a part take a Dremel and polish it some; will look better in the long run. Plus paint could gum things up, ie. linkage ect. Ben

Ben [Sarcasm On] Yeah Ben, I had the same problem when I painted my doors. Since I didn't mask it, the paint got all over the edge of the glass and made it kinda hard to see out the windows. Not to mention it got all over my door handles. Next time I think I'll just let the doors rust till they fall off. [Sarcasm Off] Seriously, Bob, Like any painting project, I would take measures to not let paint get where it shouldn't, such as on the working parts of the linkage. I had not thought about retaining heat though. I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for the heads-up. Rance PS: I sure hope you have a sense of humor.

The heat retention is a big thing, I come from a long back life of drag racing and now my boys dirt track racing. Back in the 60's early 70's we did everything especially the old aluminium foil wrap around gass lines. Ice on intake manifolds anything to get gas colder. Ben

It resists oil and gas and can stand the heat verry well. I alo used it for the carbs. No problem sice years (and I can tell you the paint saw some solid amount of oil and gas  ). But you have to paint them when disasembled, without gaskets and all. Frank

Can you say "mutiny".......haha and I agree with you whole heartedly. Cooler is better.

Also I've used the silver carb paint from Eastwood, very good stuff. Another pricy option would be to powdercoat, would last for ever.
