For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 45 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 45 | After completing a swap where we replaced a 216 with a 261, we find that the mechanical temp sender does not fit the new block properly. Although the threads fit fine, there is nothing for the sender bulb to bottom against in the block, so it leaks. I am guessing that there is some sort of fitting that goes into the block first, that makes the sender fit and not leak. Can someone give me a clue pr send me a pic? Thanks very much.

Also, Jim Carter and other vendors sell an adapter. You might want to use blue rtv sealer but mine does not leak without it. The correct adapter has a "rim/shoulder" that the temperature sender seals against. | | |
