The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Carburetor Identification

I need to ID my carb. in my 66 Chevy 1/2 ton so I can get a Carb. Kit. About the only number I can find is on an aluminum tag under a screw.

It looks like either (A K5 1B) or (A K5 18)

The only other numbers I can find are obviously casting numbers inside circular bosses on each component. The only other markings are RP Rochester blah blah blah.

As I understand it, since it is a Rochester, I should see B, or 2G, or 4G. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Also, just above that tag is 7024008. This seems to be more helpful. Is this a rebuild tag? I don't care as long as it helps me ID my carb.

the tag is the best ID - identifies the exact configuration of the carb - take it to the parts house, tell'em what engine it's from, and they'll know exactly what the carb is - if it's a one barrel it's B, 2 barrel= 2G, 4 barrel= 4G, if it's auto choke there's a C as well, like 2GC - pretty simple - any other number is 'generic' and doesn't tell you the jets and application, so treasure that tag in case you need to buy a replacement some day!

take that tag to a good parts store and they can match up a kit or replacement carb.if they cant then you need to find a real parts store
