I have '90 thunderbird seats (cloth power buckets) in my '62. I think they really improved the comfort level, as far as padding and feel goes, but they make the cab feel really cramped! I thought about shortening the steering column, because the pedals, and everything else feels good. the wheel just seems to be right up in my face! I have an aftermarket 15.5" wheel, so it's smaller than stock, and with no power steering I can't possibly go any smaller any one shorten their column?

In my truck originallly the PO had installed an 11" wheel, was great until you had to turn. I'm putting PS in the next project.

when i first got my 62 the wheel felt "in my face". I think it just takes getting used to it. The boys at the factory put it there for leverage. Thats what I love about these old trucks, no power steering, manual brakes, no air, no emmisions, SIMPLE TO WORK ON.

yeah, but mine worsened when i installed the t-bird seats. I was trying to work out the track placement, so the power would work, and I ended up just pushing them as far back as possible any way. The t-bird apparently has more fore and aft room because of the cab wall. I don't think moving the tank will help, because of the seats being higher than the tank.
