I got the 12v alternator from Jim Carter's but his mounting bracket won't work on the late-50's 270's. Don't know if it'll work on yours or not but it's worth a look. If you want to try it a buddy of mine ordered one by mistake and would probably sell it for a bit less to get part of his money back.

That price is no higher than the "adapters" sold by others - those "adapters" still need adaptations (grinding and drilling). The bracket that you show is truly adaptable.

Still had to enlongate some of the holes for my application . Warning - be darn sure of your pulley alignments . I thought that I had it " pretty darn close" - "close enough for government work"- ect... but it wasn't and I threw a belt a month later and almost took out a new radiator . Discovered I was out less than a 3/16" but still let the belt clime the pulleys flanges . But because the steel deck was put on over a going bad wood deck that has created some problems . The broken and splintered wood just will not let things get back to normal . So I will have to take off the steel deck and remove the wood deck . The fix the bed frame do some beafing up while I'm at it then put on the steel deck . I'll end up with a better bed than what I had before I bent it up . Until then I still take Toto out and work her - but keep an eye on what's going on with the bed . There is a '47 2 ton sitting on top of Toto right now waiting to be off loaded as soon as it drys up where I store my trucks . Be Safe and enjoy the challenge . Remember If it don't quite kill you - it must have been one heck of a fun time! ED H | | |
