Has anybody had the problem of oil sipeage from around the hole in the block where the Dist. goes in. Fixed how? , o-ring, gasket, silicone, suggestions? Thanks to all.

The best fix would be to machine a groove or two around the distributor housing for about a 3/32" O ring. The original HEI distributor used a gasket between the block and the distributor housing, but once that flange is machined or filed away, there's nothing to seal to with a gasket. A lathe cutter with the correct radius to fit an O ring would be pretty simple to fabricate.

Is your roadraft tube clean & is there a breather cap on the valve cover? I'm wondering if you are building up pessure in the crankcase. You could put a little RTV on it & set the timing before it sets up.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Thanks for the replies, The tube is clean and I do have the breather cap on it, I think I'll try an o-ring or a bead of silicone. Thanks to all.
