Does anybody know if a three on the tree od unit from the 60s with syncromesh gearing, will fit on a three on the tree 59 AD that does not have syncromesh. Both are 235 engines. That swap is available to me but don't know if it will work. I am told that its simply a bolt in by an old timer and that you don't even have to shorten the driveline...

if ya don't believe him, why'd ya believe us? grin the difference in trannys is the OD unit takes the place of the standard tail piece - that trans is identical to the OD that was optional for your year w/ an xtra syncro added - grab it before ya lose it!
oh, and the 59 is a "TF" not an "AD"

If you can't find an "old timer" to bolt it in.....do you then have to shorten the drive-train????

hey Red, Ya caught the error so you must be an old timer or you know what your talking about. Most probably both..... Appreciate your answer and your source. Working on this truck is kind of like going to the doctor......A SECOND OPINION NEVER HURTS!!!!

31 days older than you, young'un! grin and I understand about the doctors frown
I have 2 TF trucks I put the later Saginaw syncro 3 spds in [not OD], and a 55 OD trans on the ground, and think I'll be picking up another of the early OD's soon - wish I could find one of the later syncro ones, but they're scarce
