My side windows in my 42 1 1/2 ton have a felt material in the metal channels that hold the window. The side windows I had made at a local shop are a little thicker and seem tight. Is there another type of sealer or do you just take out the original felt and force it in with the window? Also, the door has a couple pieces of thicker felt, almost a quarter of an inch thick on the side of the window to act as wipes i guess. They are apparently held in place by crimping the metal channel on them. Anyone have a source for that thickness felt?

If all else fails, try spraying an aerosol silicone lubricant on the felt. It will free up the resistance until the felt compresses.

This sort of a problem has cropped up in discussion before when trying to fit modern glass into the old window and vent frames.
Not being a glass man I don't know whether it’s just a matter of poor selection on the part of the glass shops or whether that thickness is no longer made.
Either way I would think that if your glass is to thick for the run channel then you are in for nothing but trouble till you find the proper thickness.

I would hazard the guess that the glass shop messed up. The local glass shop told me there would be no problems replacing the glass on my 38 if I need it. There may be some place you can buy channel kits for thicker glass but I'm not aware of where that might be. If it were me I'd take it back to the glass shop & tell them I want the correct thickness glass.

Does your 41 have the metal frame enclosing the glass? Did the glass fit in the metal frame with setting tape? I changed the glass, the window channel and inner and outer bottom glass seals(whiskers) on my 4t6. Glass was purchased locally and weatherstripping at Jim Carters. If the glass fits with setting tape in metal frame glass size should be OK. If not try a different setting tape. If the glass doesn't fit into the frame without setting tape, do as Tiny said "take it back". I had to clamp the window, glass and frame, in the new weathersripping to get it to compress the weatherstripping a little bit. The whiskers on the bottom on both sides have to be squeezed very hard and maybe lifted a little to get to seal and to allow the glass to go up or down. There was some fiddling to get to work properly but they work well. Pictures start here. Have fun and good luck
