On a 59 GMC temp gauge is the needle on C or is it on the first line when the key is off?
My gauge worked until I put the original motor in it and now doesn't work correctly.
I checked all wires and found no problems. The needle is on the C when the key is off and when its hot the needle almost goes to the second line.
Is there anyway I can take the guage apart and move the needle? Is there a way to check the temp sensor itself?
I have looked for a new sensor, but no one makes the original style for GMC.

the position of the needle when the key is off is the no voltage "resting place", as the resistance of the sender changes, it goes up, you might be able to [carefully] bend it but then what would "normal" be, or "hot"?
all the temp gauges on these ol trucks are simple approximations - use a good thermometer to check the water in the rad to see what the gauge is telling you, and go with that
