I see fender welt in the catalogs but have no idea where it goes. There was none that came off but this truck has been through several restores so I don't trust the present state of things. How is is supposed to be?

It fills the gaps between body and fenders nicely. I pre-glued the welt onto the fender flanges with weatherstrip adhesive - makes things much easier to bolt together. Again, if you aren't going strickly stock, most Hot Rod shops carry welting by the roll.

There is a short piece on the front fenders between the fender and the cab. The rears get the full treatment. I used some 30lb roofing felt between the running boards and the fenders. Front and back.
The roofing felt is a lot cheaper than the ones you can buy from the venders, and is the same stuff. You just have to make a pattern and cut it out, but that easy.
