I have a 57 TF 3100. It's suppose to be a 20k mile AirForce truck (maybe it is, maybe it isn't). My problem du jour is the door handles. The push button is very difficult to push to open the latch. I've tried cleaning, adjusting, lubricating, cussing and praying without any luck. What gives? Do I need to replace the assembly? If so, what assembly do I buy? I've seen them in reproduction for $75 each and for $35 each. Is there a difference in quality?
Second problem is with the inside door handles. I bought aftermarket handles but I can't keep them tight. The teeth are getting pretty buggered up and it's getting more and more difficult to open the doors from inside the cab.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I can tell you, the truck may have 20k but I will guarantee you that the door mechanicals will have far more than that. I would just replace them. Knowing how motor pool works the door handle latch problem you have may be from newer year parts or parts that may not even be Chevrolet. | | |
