The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay custom wiring part 2

Well its been a year since I started drawing the wiring diagrams (and posted part 1(unfortunately most of the original diagrams have been deleted out of my photobucket account)) for my 52 and believe I have reached the end. The plan is to start wiring my truck within a week or two.

these were done on AutoCAD and then print screened into paint, so the quality is so-so

feel free to comment, I have been making revisions for a year, no sense in stopping now.

Im using a Painless Performance 12 Circuit Fuse Block and I bought the wire in bulk from a automotive electrical supplier.

here is what i did to mount the relays. some say the weather will effect them. ie water splashing up, but i don't think so. my fuse panel is high up and will sport a fiberglas cover. the relays should stand up OK also.

i don't believe I will have a problem with the relays (if I remember correctly, I think they are waterproof). The fuse block is going to be mounted up high on the driver kick panel out of sight but not out of the way.

Wiring will exit the firewall just below the hood hinges, at the top of the inner fenders, then run down along the bottom of the inner fender, branching off to the choke, alternator and so on. Not sure if I will mount the relays for the headlights on the inner fender or on the radiator mount, I will decide that when Im running the wires. The wiring to the passenger side headlights and signals, as well as the 8ga wire from the starter battery lug, will run under the radiator mount. Wiring for the rear will exit somewhere in the cab floor. Should be fun.

I originally had the truck completely wired, but had to pull it all out because of poor planning. Basically I jump to doing wiring before smoothing and painting the firewall. I wasn't completely satisfied with how I ran the wires anyways.

be careful about running wires inside the cab but down on the floor or lower firewall, even if they are behind the firewall sound board protection. after years of having feet rub the carpet against the wiring it will FAIL when you least expect it too. murf's law ya know. mounting fuse panels up high is a great idea except that it's too hard for me (anyway) to trouble shoot, let alone install it there. but watch your passengers feet.....
