This is the bushing that sits on top of the leaf spring and is connected to the axle at the center pivot point.
Does anyone know where I can find a new one! | | |
#46150 06/10/2005 4:06 PM | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | I can't be sure what you are calling a bushing but the only thing that is on top of the spring is a plate that the u-bolts are clamped to. Over that and attached to the frame above the center of the sping is a rubber stop block. The spring itself sits on a pad that is welded to the axle housing. The only "bushings" used are on the pins at the spring ends where they attach to the spring hangers. I hope I have descibed this well enough to clear it up. For the 1/2 ton 52 it is called the Rear Spring seat and I found that Steele Rubber will repair it. | | |

A few years ago, I think I got that bushing either from Jim Carter or Chevs of the 40s. It looks like neither company lists these anymore. Nonetheless, while the Steele part is expensive, it is molded into the steel "seat" (the one I got had to be pressed in and might not have been as tight as the Steele product).
I hope I am thinking of the same part you are - please post a picture, if you are able.
