i got a weird question i got a 1957 chevy truck 3100 and i have the oppertunity to get a 1955 second series title and vin plate and my 57 has no title can i make it a 1955??? and to do so in apperance i would have to get a 55 hood and correct emblem, steering wheel, and will a 1955 grille go inbetween the 1957 fenders ???? and i need to change the side front fender emblems correct will this all work and be a make over?????

why bother? is the cop on the beat gonna twig on the differences or are ya trying to fool the guy you sell it to?

if you prefer the 55/6 grill you can change it, but there's holes in the 57 surround that'd hafta be filled .... the 55 wheel will fit, but to be in the right position you also need to change to the longer 55 steering column .... many folks prefer the 57 hood and would like to have it for a 55/6

lotta work for no gain - don't matter what the title sez, call it a 57

Besides that, the VIN is also stamped on the frame in addition to the door plate, so the DOT can go by that one instead.

i know the vin is on the frame i can take care of that i have restamping ways to do that all i was out to do is i dont have a title for it and its a 57 and i have the opertunity to make it a 55 have a clear title and vin and i can get a 55 hood easy and grille and steering wheel from a friend so i can completly put my truck together and be able to liesence it is all i was out to do is this still a ok idea in the long run it saves a tri five and keeps it living and usuable its seams ok in my book i just wanted a couple of suggestions and im in the state of nc and anything here 35 years or older does not have to be inspected or ever looked at my law or dot or etc.

use whatever title you have, doesn't make any difference what it looks like unless you're trying to fool someone

i just want to get my tri five up and going and be able to restore it and when i get done be able to licence it so i dont see no harm in it just wanted to know if it was easy to turn it into a 55 i see it looks simple only real question i guess i have is my fenders are 57s and i will have to get 55 fender emblems and fill the holes where the 57 when and put holes odwn under the seam like a 55 is and will a 55 grille go in where the 57 grill was and match up bolt up etc????? the same as the 57 grille did or any slight modifications???

the 55/6 grille bolts inside the opening, the 57 bolts on the face of the opening, and where it bolts there's depressed flat areas that would require patching - in this pic you can see the 2 just beside the park lights - easier to use the fenders from the 55

so in the pic thats for truck?? are u using 57 fenders too i remember those two holes now thats where the 57 grille face bolts i think if that would be the only alterration inbetween me using a 55 grille in the front of mine i could mig those up and maybe /or fiberglass those holes up. thats a pretty truck if its yours .
