For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 8 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 8 | I am at the fork in the road with my truck. I need some minor (Major) body repair for my restoration of a 1954 5 window 3100. All the typical areas, cab corners,Cowl panels, door jambs all need new metal replacement panels. My question is who sells the best quality parts to buy? Do they all buy parts from the same remanufacturer? There for do you buy from the cheap guy? Any input would be appreciated! [email protected]

Mine are pretty rusty and it will take some work but that replacement panels look to cheap! They are not authentic, and I think it cheapens the project!

It's just part of the job. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | This is not a simple repair by any means and the panels are close not perfect. There are lots of choices in vendors but I think the panels are mostly from 2-3 overseas stampers. There are lots of resources here for how to do this work but every truck is different and so are the fits. Originally they were made quickly and you have to always remember they were made in reverse order of how you generally repair. Look at how some of the rest of us have done it. You can look at my pictures and look in the Paint/Body shop and Interior forum for lots of discussion on these issues, good luck!

If you are referring to 1954/55 bed-side panels ("What is up with the replacement side panels. They are not raised like my original ones."), no one makes a replacement bed side-panel that matches the original bed side-panels 54/55 panels.
