OK, I see what you have now. You have the first year of the new "J" style trucks. That is the same style truck as my '67 GMC 7500. Mine originally came with a V-6 Toro-Flow Diesel, but it got converted to a 6V-53 like you have. It was a 5-Speed, 2-Speed Rear, Air Brakes, Power Steering, Spoke Wheels, 10-20 Tires and a GVW of 31,000. (9 Fronts and 22 Rears). It was a Straight Truck with a long chassis that had a 20 Ft Body on it.

Bill:

I should check here more, I bought this truck in Michigan
& drove it home.
Its a twin screw tractor & has a wet kit on it.
I have a bad time finding the gears, Ha Ha.
Its a nice tuck, Hope to fix it all up some time.
Im working on 2 now a C-70 Chev 1980 W/366 & a 1967 C-50 W/366
The 67 is geting a 5 speed New Prosses trans. The trans that was in there was very bad in low gear, Sounded like it would blow up.
But I cant find a used PTO for the 542 NP.
Im ready to put it togeather but I need the bowell pin for the flywheel.

bill did you have to do any body work to get the 6V-53 to fit in your '67 GMC? or did it fit with different mounts?

The previous owner put the engine in a year or two before I bought it, but as I recall, he did tell me that he had to use all the body mounts from the truck he got the engine from as the cab needed to be raised up some. I would say that the engine mounts also came from the other truck. The 6V-53 was factory available then, therefore it should all be a bolt-in deal.

Yes it is 6-71 Power steering, 5 speed R.Ranger.
I need parts for a 1980 chev c-70 do you know some one thats junking one or a salvage yard that i could call?
Around here there are no truck yards, Just auto yards that might have one once in awhile. Parts are rusted out bad from the road salt. I need upper fenders & the 1/4 fender, doors. some dash parts. Grills.

Repair,

There is actually no such thing as a 5-Speed Road Ranger. Does the shifter have an air shift button on the side?

Also wondering what year 9500 you have? Do you have any pictures of it?

I don't know anyone parting out an '80 C-70, but the best thing for large truck parts is to find a yard closest to your area. Calling some big truck parts stores in your area should get you some good recommendations for some big truck parts yards.

Repair,

You have a 10-Speed Road Ranger.

I don't have much picture posting experience either. Maybe someone will jump in and help, otherwise I can always send you my E-mail address.
