In trying to install my wiring and I am instructed to run a yellow wire if I have a points distributor. My distributor is an HEI. Does that mean it has points. It is easier to ask you guys rather than popping the cap.

The instructions do call for a ballast resistor. My old OEM HEI did not have a ballast resistor or resistance wire that I can remember. So I would think it best to say some HEI's require a resistor, others not. And yes 'Big Chevy 3600', the resistor drops the voltage during engine run. It is bypassed at start up.

The kit is pretty complete with all you need and the directions are a snap for someone that has more than a basic knowledge of auto wiring. My knowledge is basic back to the model A.

If I heard that term I would think big old GM style. I would call the Mallory, Pertronix and the rest 'breakerless ignitions' or solid state ignitions opposed to HEI ignitions. You are most likely correct as usual but here in the South we do and say things a little differently. When someone ask if you want a 'coke', they don't mean a "Coke-a-Cola". Other places call them dope, soda, pop, or whatever, we just refer to all of them as cokes. Same with facial tissue, we refer to all of it as "Kleenex". Now, where's my cup of 'black joe'? Thanks for the 'heads-up'.
