Tell what you think.......... I need a radiator for "The Big Dawg" 48 3100 shortbox. Running a 350 with a 700 r4. I am using the stock radiator support. Would like to use an aluminum radiator.

Here's the $20,000 question?

What radiator did you use and who did you get it from?

How much?

Tom

I have seen several folks use a stock 1.5 or 2 ton AD radiator in a 1/2 ton with 350, and they say it works great.
The big truck radiator core is approximately 2.5" thick, I'll go measure exactly if you are interested?
It also bolts in just the same as a small truck radiator.

If that works for you, my original, with a 48 date stamp, could be available, send me a PM if you are interested. Because I have a feeling I'll need the aluminum one, I'm looking at the Griffin aluminum ones that are supposed to be a mostly original looking (other than the aluminum part) bolt in deal.

I think the Griffin is around $600 or $700 from Summit.

I priced a new Griffin 2 core with 1 1/4" tubes in a 2 3/4" thick core for my 51 gmc 1 ton flat bed for $640.00. I am also trying to determine the best radiator for my truck build. I am running a little different setup, I have a 454 with the four speed. I had to call the number on the website in order to get info. The website is www.griffinrad.com. Maybe this will help. I have never used one these radiators before, I am hoping to get feed back from this forum. I have also priced radiators from US Radiator and Jim Carter's that are more the traditional style radiator, I want to make certain that the engine will stay cool. Good luck with your search Tomy2tone01.

I do. I am trying to figure out how to post them. I will try to set something up and post a new thread under the Welcome Center. I don't want to steel Tomy2tone01's thread. Keep a watch there.

Had a local radiator shop do mine, the tranny builder wouldn't warranty the tranny without some very specific radiator requirements. It was $450. Towards the end of my 350 installation saga are pics of it. Ed

Ricos Rods And Relics in the links section seems to have good prices on radiators and a decent selection.
