I have a 49 Thriftmaster with the standard 216. Am trying to identify what brand of oil filter it has. It's definetly not an A/C by the shape but I am not sure if it is a Fram. On the top of the light gray canister it has stampted " Walker Cartridge".

Interesting... Walker is a filter manufacturer in England. Is the steering wheel on the right side?

You know I asked myself the same question because I am aware of the English Walker company. Wonder if the person who rebuilt the engine used an old Jag oil filter.

too bad the fitler picture is washed out. it kinda looks like my Porsche 356 filter,
that would be German. If when you remove the top nut is there a flip-up pull wire handle?
don't get whose filter this really is, but how bout a better shot of the filter?

My question is about the oil filter not the air cleaner. The air cleaner is an oil bath type. I just can't figure out which brand of oil filter this is. Looks more like a Fram but refers on the top cover to a Walker Cartridge. About 6 inches deep and 5.5 inches wide. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I will check for the wire. I think you are heading in the right direction with your answer. I always assumed that the optional oil filters were either A/C or Fram. Apparently there must of been aftermarket oil filters available at the time that were made to meet the specs of a 216.

The filter does have etched on the lid replace with a Walker Cartridge and the code.

go compare your ''walker'' oil filter element to a FRAM C3P Filter element, size & diameter and see if what you find is close to what i suggested.
