For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 6 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 6 | Specifically the bolt on rear end mounting kit for AD trucks, and also the Bolt in IFS kit for the AD as well.
Does the rear end mounting kit lower the rear? Is there a way to get lower springs, the leafs appear to be wider?
Any problems running steel wheels with the IFS kit? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | I have never used them but have only heard good things about them. I would not be afraid to deal with them.

The rear spring kit does lower the rear end significantly, (at least 4") and it moves the rear axle back about 1 1/2" to center the wheels in the fender opening. The springs are 2 1/2" wide and this kit cannot be used with the original torgue tube axle. You use a GM 10 bolt or 12 bolt rear or a Ford 8" or 9" rear. Be prepared to do some altering to the rear end mounts, as the bolt holes aren't always in the exact location. You may need to oval out some of the holes to get every thing to line up. I have found some quality control issues that I was able to deal with and modify. If you have fabrication skills, then you won't have any problems that you can't fix. You can run any modern wheel you want that will clear the capliers on the front disc brake suspension | | | | | Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 6 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 6 | Thanks wbrowne.
As for the fabrication, did you have to do any welding? Does the kit require anything to be welded. I trying to see if this is an option, since I don't have a welder. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 53 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 53 | Call their tech line. I have found them to be very friendly, helpful and they know their products. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 381 | Jaysen - Their rear end kit is a bolt in , or they also offer a weld in kit. The bolt in kit involves removing the orginal spring hangers. They have complete instructions with the kit. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 | jaysen -my whole truck is done with their stuff.for the mostpart directions and measurements are pretty much right on the money.i did have to move the motor about 1" foward to gain some clearance (distb.-firewall) trans mount bolts into the original holes. i used a master power brakes set up on the frame and did have to notch the mount to get master cyclinder clearance.theirrear end kit is nice, was very simple to install(even a moron like me had no problems)also gave me an almost 5" drop in the rear.and unlike wbrowne my bolt holes were balls on. i also got their optional rear sway bar as well.i am real pleased with the whole deal.also i used the upper shock bar as part of a very simple fuel cell mount to relocate my gas tank under the bed.if you have any questions you can call c.e. and they will fax you a copy of the instructions for any of their kits.i also went with their pacer front end kit.but that was along time ago.if i was doing it now i would def go with their bolt in M11.also search this forum there is a thread from a guy "keahi" i think that does a install with lots of pics on the c.e. M11 bolt in kit.its worth searching for if you're considering using one.hope this helps....................dave

It was the weld on kit ,and the quality was excellent as well as the instructions. It lowered the rear about 4". Overall I'm very happy with it.
Just because you have a few Craftsman tools, it dosen't mean your a craftsman.
