I finally located a 248 6 bolt flywheel to fit my 302. Finding the flywheel was tough but I'm wondering if pressure plates are more readily available? I do have the old rusty one that came with the 248 but would rather have new.

Thanks

I see The Truck Shop has one listed for a 1949-1953 GMC 248 engine 1-800-245-0556

or online
www.the truckshopga.com

they carry GMC parts 1934-1987
I have never bought from them

Thanks for the info. I think though that they may be talking about a PP for a 10" clutch. I found out today at Napa that that is the size they list for a 248 light truck. My flywheel and pressure plate came off of a 1.5 ton and are for an 11" clutch.

Like I said, I have the old 248 PP and clutch disk so I might just have to use them. I think I'm getting close to being able to fire up the 302. I'll let you know as soon as I do.

thanks

Chevy Duty www.chevyduty.com
they show a 11 inch they say is for 1954
If I remember right the difference is the
pressure plate attaches with either 6 or 9 bolts
to flywheel. phone 816-741-8029 and see if they
have what you need a 6 bolt or 9 bolt.
these parts are available and I think you would
be happier with new or rebuilt. It is no fun to
tear it apart again to replace. Just my opinion.
good luck

Did you take your plate in to Napa to see if they could match it, or get it rebuilt? I have an 11" plate in my 52, 6 bolts, and I was told it's off a GMC, and my parts store can get it. Rusty pressure plates are a disaster waiting for a place to happen, rusty springs love to break.
