Pulled the heads and found the pistons are stamped with 0.040" and the tops are pitted but not real bad I can still read the 0.040". The piston walls look good. I drained the oil and am going to pull the oil pan and check out the crank. So all in all it was a good weekend. I did find 2 broken push rods. So I have a question, can and where can you purchase just 2 or a set of push rods for my babbit pounder? any comments on if i need to check out something i did not mention, sense the engine is pulled will be greatly appreciated. Oh yea when I pulled the clutch and flywheel, the flywheel had heat cracks in it from the clutch, can you machine this out if it is not too deep or is it best to buy a new one and where should I buy from? thanks in advance.

The next thing to check are the rod bearings. If they are in good condition & have some shims left you can adjust em & go on. Otherwise you will need to get them rebabited on converted to inserts. The fly wheel can be surfaced ground & used with lightcracks (we,ll get debate on this) I,ve done it many times. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
