I understand that Tom Langdon sells an adapter, but pricing is pretty high, anyone have any other ideas? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 1,067 | Whew, you've got me thinking on this one. I really don't know how you'd do that. You're probably pretty much on your own on this one, but I would think you'd want to somehow adapt the 235's bell housing to the body of the turbo 350 tranmission. You have to make sure your spacing for the input shaft is correct and that you have enough room for the stall converter.
I'll be watching this to see who else has a good suggestion.
If there isn't any way to do that, you could get a later-model stovebolt engine that has the late-model bell housing bolt pattern drilled into it. If you did that, then that would be pretty easy to put a TH350 on.

Not sure its any cheaper, but it is another option.

Langdon's kit works but it is not flawless. The shop that did it for me had to get some offset bell housing guide pins to correct the runout and to align the tourque converter nose with the crank but that was really about it. I also had to have a later model rearend intalled as well since I used to have a torque tube. The shop also used Langdon's side mount engine mounts, but they did not fit very well. We had to use those because when they removed the original bell housing the original engine mounts went with it. Langdon's side engine mounting plate that is suppose to bolt to the engine was too small for both sides, so the shop cut those off and made the correct ones and welded them to the mounts. Over all it is not too hard to do. I wanted overdrive that is why I went with the 700R4, when I spoke to Landon, he recommended the 200R4 becasue it was lighter but I had already purchased a 700R4. I also had to have a new floor pan made to accomodate the bell of the new tranny, but it is such a small hump it doesn't look any different than before. The truck runs great, and I now have overdrive for the highway. Yahoo!!!
