I have link to webshots with just 30 photos in the album, please look at them if it could help you help me.

Seems we have many parts from different years?

We're told it was a 51. I have no title, and no id plate on the door pillar.

Motor number casting between Dist and f. Pump 3836233. Inliners.com indicated it was a 1955 Second 235 ci.? A reply from another thread mentions it was a 1953 235 Powerglide out of a car possibly. Serial Number stamped into pad behind ditributor says 030896IT55Z.

Yet it has a 216 two bolt valve cover? Serial number on drivers side of head says 3835913 GM 2

Carb appears to be a GM B model? Brass tag says 7020103 and B2b or is it B28?

On the drivers side of the manual tranny it says. CONV 5, GM 1, H39, 591665

The rad says r-11a, 53C, Harison 3128515.

The dif says on the pass side, LU 3 20, and 16 on the drivers side.

If you could eyeball my pics, just in case I'm not pulling numbers from the wrong spots....

Thanks for what help you can give...

I have 7 GMC's and no chev's but, it was quite common to put in a used engine that would fit when the old one went bad. Looks like someone converted from a speed on the column to a 4 speed which was also very common. Maybe the transmission came with the motor. Usually the the column shifter was removed, but they probably never got "a round tuit". Harrison was oem for GM radiators. Rochester carbs were also oem.

The truck is a 52 or 53. The heater looks different might be an after market, they were optional back then.

Dang thanks guys for checking it out so quick. I'm running in and out of my house with my camera and cleaning, shooting pics, posting to webshots, checking the posts, and getting more info.

Thanks Crenwelge, Did you see the one pic of the front motor mount not being bolted in? I'll be posting a theory soon about how and why the motor is and what should I do about seeing if it will run very soon. (Its free spinning)

Big Chevy? Thanks. You must have looked at the pics. Could you te me in detail where or what to shoot that would help you help me really ID the chassis?. The interior shots are coming next- the Super Deluxe Defrost Heat will be posted soon, as well as the ashtray, and gauges.

How are the pics to look at on your 'puters? Man, In wish I could have a 'puter closer to the other tools and the truck.

Hy GeeVee, the rear axle is a "ten Bolt" probably from a much more modern GM car with leaf springs, Camaro, or Firebird maybe. It's nice that you have the newer engine with the insert bearings already, let us know how the attempt at starting it goes.

Thanks 3B, I may be a ways from trying to start it. I aim to start another thread about what process I shoud use to do so? I want to try and use the driveline that is in it for the accomplishment of getting it to run so the boy doesn't lose interest.

Do you think it is possible to ID the dif for sure that might tell me what ratio it holds?

Thanks again.

Hy GeeVee, sometimes the end of the pinion is marked with a part number, and a couple of other numbers with a dash or space between them, these are the numbers of teeth on the crown and pinion, divide the smaller into the larger and that will give you the ratio. Hope that helps.

Hi GeeVee, I've just checked out your pics. Nice truck! Is that a metal tag on the rh side of the diff cover?
If so it may have the Info your looking for.
I fitted an 86 Firebird axle in my '50 and the tag has the orignal GM part # and diff ratio stamped on it.
I hope this helps.
Jock.

One thing to remember, 2002 Firebird disk brakes will bolt right up to the GM 10 Bolt.
Re.ID the chassis. The AD chassis are pretty much all the same. If you suspect yours is from another vintage vehicle just look at how the cab is mounted to the frame. If the frame didn't come with the cab you can tell by how it is mounted.
