The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk 59 Apache Hood Hinges snd Spring Fit?

Got the cab back from the painter and man does it look nice. Doors and hood fit real nice and line up good as new. They fit good before the painting as only the cab corners needed to be done. The hood was not hinged with springs when I bought it so I can not determine if it was right or not.
My problem is that when I manage to pull the springs far enough to hook them, which is a REAL stretch, the rear of the hood pulls up about an inch or so.
I thought perhaps the springs were wrong but a new set does exactly the same thing. What do you think, weak hinges or can I get adjustment out of them by changing the hole spacing? I do not have any reference for how hard it should be to stretch these springs but these were almost scary hard to get hooked. Appreciate any experience or advice. Thanks Ralph

common problem Ralph, the hinge pivot pins are worn, need new hinges, that's why the PO took the springs off, no adjustment possible

the springs are very strong, just hafta tough it out to get'em on ... tech tip about it, but a pair of vice grips and a strong arm has always worked for me
