When I went out to start the truck yesterday, water & oil, mostly water, started running out of the draft tube. The engine wasn't making any kind of bad noises or smoking, but there was just a steady stream coming out of the draft tube. And it wasn't milky either.

What gives? Do I have a cracked block or was there some other kind of gremlin?

Maybe. Were you smoking copious amounts of white smoke?

a.d.-hawk,

My bet is that it's simple condensation. Has it been awhile since you've run the truck down the road and had the engine up to temperature?

If you cracked a block and filled the crankcase full of water, you would see it immediately...if you could even get the thing going.

My first thought is condensation, as atomarc says, especially if the weather is cool and humid. If water is leaking into the crankcase in any quantity, you should see high oil level after the engine stands for a while. But it all gets mixed up if you run the engine. If you have any doubts about water leaking into the oil, change the oil- engine cold. If you get more than a couple of drops or water when you loosen the drain plug, there may be something more going on. If the engine was warm when you drained the oil, save the old oil and see if water settles after a few hours. If that happens, you could have a water leak to deal with, maybe the head gasket. But don't get too excited without further reason.

Pull the valve cover, If you just have the normal black accumulation, you are ok. If there are accumulations of white milky stuff, you have more than condensation. Head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block at the push rod cavity.
