I may have been in the heat too long. I had a thought today of doing my truck in flat black, with blue and white pinstripes. Maybe even some door art advertising my Dad's part time junkyard.
"Rocky Hill Auto Salvage" in white with blue trim.

One local has one that is stone cold ugly, but I've seen some where it just makes any chrome pop and just looks clean. I think alot depends on the body work done or not.

Both have recently had articles on doing a flat paint, as opposed to just leaving primer. Better protection for the metal than leaving the primer.

I painted the door with a dark primer, and then put on a new chrome door handle and gas cap. I started wondering how nice would a chrome grill look up front, surrounded by those acres of flat black fenders and hood...hmmmm.

It also happens to be what I had to start with for my truck...nothing more. I also like to keep the truck looking primarily stock even though it may not be. So this is what I did to mine for the end result. I was considering the first pic where it was just a mess. I consider the end result a hotrod and was actually going for the old school hot rod look that I personally like.
I guess the problem with the ratrod term is it is now a generalized term for old school traditional rods...which drives the purists nuts by the way...do not use that term on the Hamb cuz you will get your butt hole torn wide open.
