I'm having trouble getting everything right with the Carter YF (model 789 SA)that I put on my 235. It starts up OK but I think the port that I attached the vacuum advance line to is not ported as it immediately advances the distributor at idle. Then it will retard it if you gun it. Acts like it is running straight from manifold vacuum.
The port I attached to runs out at a 45 degree angle from the passenger side front corner of the carburetor and I had assumed it to be the correct one to run to the distributor. If this isn't the right port, is there another? I can't see any obvious other except there is a hole bored nearer to the rear (near the adjusting screw)with a brass plug in it but it is not tapped.
Any information would be appreciated.
