I have a '68 Posi in my '64. (HC 08 04W)

Will 5 lug axles fit?
and what about brakes, they seem much larger on the '71/72 R/End.

No, the 6 lug axles are shorter.

Both axles are in trucks, I thought I could switch them to get 5 lug in the '64 to go with the Disk brake front.

Should I switch the Posi to the '71 r/end?
Or will that not fit either.

What is wrong with your '64 posi that makes you think about changing it? If you are changing just for bolt pattern then I wouldn't. My truck has 6-lug rear axle and a 5-lug 4 1/2" pattern up front. No spare tire...just a flat repair kit, a small 12v powered compressor and a cell phone.

I want to use Torquethrust-D's which are 5 lug.

Will any axles swap into the m\mid '60's 12 Bolt?

I went through this about a year or so back when I switched my '68 to five lug all around using a junked '72. I couldnt find any five lug axles that would fit the six lug axle housing. What type of rear end do you have? 10 or 12 bolt, could you swap the posi and carrier out of the six into the five? More hassle to be sure, but sometimes to get what you want it is. Dont forget when doing the front disc swap to get the tie rod ends as well.

I am running a 72 12 bolt from a 4x4 chevy truck. It is 5 bolt and one inch wider than the origional. The only fab was the shock mounts at the frame.

early classic sells conversion axles.

I would prefer to keep the narrower axle, and it is a Low mileage stock 12 bolt. (circa 1968)
That is an option though.
