theres a tapping noise that happens when i let the gas go or hit the gas, but only when im going past 50mph(350 small block). any ideas? thanks.

I get pretty much the same thing in my '79 K10. Look at the pass side exhaust manifold. There is a valve on there for warming up the engine faster on cold days that likes to rattle on mine. I am going to remove the valve and shaft and fill the holes with set screws (drill and tap the pivot holes first).
