I've got a Chevy 250 that's been slowly getting some upgrades.

My Clifford intake came in yesterday. I will be mounting a 390 Holley to it and need to come up with a linkage. Has anybody got some tips or perhaps photos of this particular configuration?

I have headers mounted already, and this is a four speed.

You can turn the carb 90 degrees and use a cable system like 'Lokar'. It makes for a neat setup with very little fabing. The only thing that needs to be fabed is the piece behing the carb to hold the end of the cable and maybe the return springs base. As far as turning the carb, check out past posts pertaining to this issue as there are a ton. Good luck

I've seen some setups here that were a combination of the original pedal/arm and lokar. I never saw anything I much cared for. Too many pieces.
I got a stock, firewall mounted swinging pedal and cable from a '70s chevy truck. The cables for '70s cars and trucks are nearly all the same. They just come in different lengths for the various applications.
I picked up an assortment of cables and used a long one that I think was from an Olds or Cad. I got the carb bracket that was on the back of the Quadrajet and trimmed it down.
The cable loops around the PCV on top of the valve cover. It has worked without a hic-up on the Carter AVS for several years.
Another nice thing about it is that, it's the last thing you see when you look under the hood.

Do I need to add anything to get full rotation of the bell crank on the primary butterfly, or will this do the trick on the Holley stud location? I've run into issues with not having enough cable travel on other applications with the Holley 4160's.
Carter AFB's seem to work better in that regard, and I may go that route just to avoid the mixture issues that crop up on the 2300's and 4160's all the time.

There is no bell crank and what stud location?
The piece of metal on the throttle shaft is a "lever". The longer the lever, the greater the cable travel must be to achieve the same rotation of the shaft. If the rotation is insufficient, you shorten the lever. I.E., attach the cable closer to the shaft. Maximum rotation of the shaft for any given cable travel will be when the cable and lever are at 90 degrees, when the shaft swings through 1/2 its rotation.

Yep, got that. 'Is the stock cable mounting location on the Holley's "lever" adequate when using the cable you described?' might have been a better question.

No need to reply, I'll get to it here in a bit. It's third in line for my available bay. Just nice to know if I need to prep to fabricate stuff.
