I just read with great interest the thread which was posted last week about these carburetors. I rebuilt the one that came on my 350, and I get 18 mpg, compared with 13 on my V6 Toyota. At $4.00 a gal for gas, guess which one has become my daily driver. My carb has a manual choke, and I prefer an automatic one. The article about automatic chokes from The Carburetor Shop is excellent I just bought a carb with auto choke, which is only one digit off from mine,on ebay. It arrived today, and appears to be very rebuildable, BUT I need a diagram of how the heat tube runs from the engine (exhaust manifold??) to the choke housing. My engine is a 1970 Chevy truck engine with headers. I can easily weld on an adapter if necessary. I am puzzled about how hot air can run to the choke housing unless the heat tube is open at the heat source.
