Is this glass jar a Windshield washer or a radiator over flow?

Looks like a home made overflow to me.
Just a suggestion, it's preferred that pix are posted is a link, rather than directly placed in the post itself. Really kills the bandwidth, and people on dialup may not be able to see the pix as well.

Kinda looks like one of the top oilers that you put Marvel Mystery Oil in and ran the line to vacuum on the manifold. Or it could be a water injection system popular in the 40's and 50's. Supposedly cleaned the valves as you drove and boosted power and gave you better gas mileage, OR so they said LOL !!

Actually, water injection works real good... very popular in the diesel truck world.... But the key is having it sprayed into the manifold at HI PRESSURE through a tiny nozzle.... So that it forms a mist rather than big droplets...

I'm fairly certain that's for windshield washer fluid... I remember seeing something similar in the manual for my 1947 Chevy coupe. If I come across any information I'll let you know.
