OK, "46 Chevy 1/2 T Panel Delivery, 350 SBC, Heidts cross member & Suspension, Flamming River manual rack. I've got a pretty good shimmie around 50/60 MPH and a little at low speed. I had 1 bad inner and 1 outer rod ends that were replaced and had the front end aligned at a good shop and watched it being done.
The final numbers are:
all numbers are degrees
Caster- L-1.4 R-1.5
Camber- L -1.1 R-1.4
Toe- 0.15 both

The wheels are Weld Wheel Pro Stars, 15" X 7"
We are thinking it might have something to do with the moveable weight thats inside the rims. Oh and the front coils are Eaton 350lbs.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Is that toe measure toe out or toe in? Toe in will be more stable than toe-out. Are you measuring in degrees or inches?

More caster will also track straighter than less. That isn't what I would consider a lot of castor. It is not uncommon for Miata's to run 5 degrees of castor.

Just for grins, have you checked all the ball joints for play, lug nuts for torque, shock bolts for torque, and alignment bolts for torque, control arm bushings for play? While loose lugs usually show up as an off-throttle vibration, they often are not torqued. How about the rear lugs and spring shackles, axle bolts?

Finally, are all four tires at the air pressure you expect them to be?

If you had the tires balanced it should have taken in consideration the lead weights.

Just a long shot here.... Years ago I had a VW bug with a 'shimmy'. I eventually traced it to a REAR tyre.
The sidewall was buckled and the shake transmitted through the whole car! Just a thought?

Tire or wheel issue, alignment will not cause a shimmy.
