It covers the crack between the window rubber and dash. I have looked through all my catalogs and havent seen it. This in fact surrounds the whole window. I'm not entirely sure about the '54
but on mine (a '50) there are two trims joined at the middle of the dash and at the top of the windshield.
I don't know if you can buy them new but your best bet would be to try and find good second hand ones from one of the many sellers in the swap meet section.
I could actually be doing with a new set myself!

This fits above the defroster hose attachment that screws through the dash.

It covers(only blocks the view of) the open slot along the windshield where the defroster air blows out. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | The 1954 defroster vents' cover (or window trim - not really a garnish molding but it has been called that) on a 54/55 truck is completely different from window trim used in earlier years, probably in keeping with the change from 2 flat windows to one curved window. The 1954 strip/molding is held down with about 5 screws into the dash and spring-like standoff clips (that are harder to find than the trim-strip/molding).
These parts are not sold in reproduction, so your best bet is to post a Want Ad in the Swap Meet forum.
