After dragstrip testing my 250, and weighing the truck, it has in the area of 130 to 140 horsepower at the flywheel and 100 to 110 at the tires. It's a 250, .030" over, 240 cfm carb, mild cam, header, and HEI ignition. Joe

Ape, you're up early, where are you in Idaho?I lived there for a few years.A 261 like your has 160-180 horsepower at the flywheel, but as Joe found out, it could be less than we all think.

I'd guess around 160. If you go 60 over, shave the head, port & polish, full race cam and headers you can get up to 200. Above that and you get into lots of money.
